Literature Text
If the moon falls down from heaven;
crashes through the earth to Hell,
and the sky turns dark in anguish,
with its lover's light withheld,
and time stops to see the descent;
looks down and looses it’s resolve,
and the Sun tries until its spent,
but cannot mend what has been lost;
I will still have all I need;
I will have love and strength from you.
If I wake to find all the world against me,
hatred thrown at me in all their words;
if an army takes me for their enemy,
and I am left dead on the black shores;
if I am accused a criminal,
and imprisoned forever more,
I will be able to survive it all,
I will find asylum always in your love.
Your love is the key to my strength;
It is the firefly in my pitch black night;
It is something which words cannot express –
This feeling between you and I.

I’ll tell them of your love for me;
They'll understand, and all will be assuaged.

were you waiting for a sign
the teacher called it negative space.
i liked to think of it as something positive,
because you occupied it.
and you were someone who would never
stop smiling, never stop being encouraging,
but who never had any of her own dreams.
you didn't know what you wanted,
but i admire that you still knew what i did.
i admire you managed to remember my name.
i was convinced that every song i heard was but an
ill-fitted metaphor and you whispered solemnly,
'not everything is a story about you and me.'
sometimes people saw me talking to you;
they said i was crazy, but they just didn't know.
you wore mirrors in place of skin.

And Then What?
And Then What?
I liked being short. I would sit
On my daddy's knee and he'd
Bounce me. The stairs were
Vast mountains and I was there
To climb them. My mummy
Would tuck me in every night
After I had struggled into my
Train engine pyjamas. The TV
Would entertain me. I could go
To Andrews house whenever I
Wanted to without ringing up.
We would play in the garden.
My nanny would sing me songs
From Slovakia and I would try
To sing them back to her. I
Would work and laugh at the
Same time. The playground had
Worms in it. And things were big.

As I climb the steepest mountain of my life, I envision a great man. So close to him I am, that I taste the salty beads of sweat dripping from his nose. So close to him I am, that I feel the years of persecution that exist within his crackled skin. So close to him I am, that I breathe his pain, and the overwhelming suffering brings me to my knees. So close to him I am, that I endure his countless defeats as the peak of the mountain disappears. So close to him I am, that I can see into his old eyes and they tell not a tragic tale, but rather a tale of great courage and resolution. So close to him I am, that I realize his determination and I am
